Simone Mondesir was born in London and had a peripatetic childhood living on RAF bases in the Far and Middle East as well as in England. She read Middle Eastern History at SOAS, London University, and was briefly a very junior academic at Durham University, before becoming a print journalist specialising in Arab politics. From there she moved into TV, first as a researcher then as a producer. She worked for London Weekend Television, the BBC, and Channel 4, finally running her own TV production company before deciding it was time to get out and do what she had always wanted to do – write fiction. She spent 6 months on a Greek island doing just that.
Somewhat late in life, and much to the surprise of her friends and family as well as herself, she got married. She and her husband spent time in the Balkans, the Baltics and other parts of Southern and Eastern Europe before buying a house in France where they lived for 15 years. In 2021 they moved to Cornwall.
Apart from some obscure academic works and numerous political articles, she is the author of four novels: Acquired Tastes; Coming Up For Air; Mothers, Sisters & Other Lovers; and A Sensible Girl, all of which are available as ebooks from Amazon.
